BHOPAL: The Madhya Pradesh Government has accorded administrative sanction of Rs. 263 crore for Pancham Nagar Medium Irrigation Project of Damoh district. After completion, the project will irrigate about 12,600 hectare area including 9900 hectares in Rabi and 2700 hectares in Kharif season. The project will benefit farmers of 57 villages across the state.

Water Resources Minister Jayant Malaiya informed that after construction of this project on Bebas river in Sagar and Damoh districts, water will be released in Pancham Nagar Barrage from Pagara Dam as a result of which irrigation water will become available to farmers through canals.
Malaiya informed that 1592 hectare area will come under submergence zone of Pagara Dam. Malaiya directed to complete the departmental project on priority so that farmers’ four decades old demand for irrigation water can be met.
It is noteworthy that the project will supply adequate quantity of water to farmers’ fields, the Pagara Dam will also remove drinking water problem of Banda development block during summer season.
